We are driven by the desire to Home Grow as much of the food we sell you as possible. In an attempt to achieve this, we have over two acres of land devoted to the production of fruit and vegetables. You don’t have to worry about food miles if the label says ‘home grown’. And with organic food production there are some other things you don’t have to worry about –

We do
• use crop rotation to avoid plant disease.
• use physical barriers to control pests such as carrot fly.
• use disease resistant varieties.
• use well composted farmyard manure, the centuries old, tried and tested and still the best food Mother Earth can get.
• use unheated tunnels to extend both the season and the variety of vegetables we grow.

We don’t
• use chemical insecticides – we make no apology for the occasional slug on your lettuce. If it’s safe for the slug to eat, it’s safe for you to eat.
• use artificial fertilizers.
• use chemical weed killers- so we do a lot of hand weeding.

Most years we grow:  potatoes, cabbages,  cauliflowers, turnips, calabrese , broccoli, sprouts, rocket, kale, carrots, parsnips, beetroot, chard, spinach, lettuce, parsley, peas, beans, onions, garlic, shallots, leeks, tomatoes, horseradish, herbs,  strawberries, raspberries, currants, etc etc...
